As a local resident of Hollywood Beach, Florida, I have seen the community drastically change over the last decade. The juxtaposition between old school, family-oriented tourist destination, and hip beachside property for sale was an eye-opener. One evening in mid-October, I was walking back after shooting some portraits on the beach and encountered a group of tourists who had been utterly decimated by Hurricane Irma just weeks earlier. The visitors were elated to be back on the beach after such a devastating experience, and their excitement triggered my interest in capturing locals' stories to honor all that has been lost and gained at Hollywood Beach.
